BALMAIN x THE LION KING 30° ANNIVERSARY
Today, June 27, the French fashion house's ig profile posted a video announcing its collaboration with Walt Disney to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "The Lion King."
The video was directed by Femi Oladigbolu, shot in South Africa's Western Cape province and features African models.
The video will be shown during the July 5 screening of "The Lion King in Concert" at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing lets out a powerful Hakuna Matata by designing an ambitious ready-to-wear collection composed of vibrant colors, exuberant patterns and garments with geometric cuts.
The collaboration between the fashion house and the production company Dinsey gives us a collection that celebrates the cultural richness of Africa.
"Working with Disney has been a dream come true. Passion, strength, hope, LOVE. I had the most incredible journey being in AFRICA, the continent I am from. I cannot explain the joy and tears of love we had with all the models and production. We didn't just shoot a campaign, we wanted to create HISTORY and celebrate love and UNION. The passion that unites us all and the hope for a bright future."
These are the words of Rousting, who continues, then, declaring that he has thus fulfilled a dream of his childhood self, who grew up watching the adventures of Simba
I was only nine years old when it first came out, but even now, almost 30 years later, I can close my eyes and replay that incredible mix of music, images and emotions. The lessons I absorbed as I sat transfixed by the giant screen have stayed with me for the rest of my life
